The Call and Ministry of John Mark Louse

John Mark Louse, A Light to Karamoja

The Lord sent a lost sheep to our doorstep

Testimony by Brother Jesse Nzima

Last evening we had our devotionals as usual with our mother at the farm together with the domestic worker she stays with who has a grand son.

We started our programme with our usual activity of letting each select a song of choice from our Chewa hymn books coupled with regular common choruses we sing.

Half way in our devotional, one unusual thing happened: we got lost in the praise and worship and saw ourselves pour out our hearts to God in prayer like never before. The prayers continued and so did the songs and we did not mind how late it was.

The presence of the Lord indeed came down. We felt it in our hearts. We then went to sleep and in the morning we could still feel the revival of last night.

Around 5am this morning we heard a persistent and strange knock on our door, the person knocking kept on calling to us, “Knock, knock pastor, knock, knock pastor”. The man continued for some time and then stopped. I kept turning and protesting on my bed and muttering to myself that it was to early to have visitors. I then hoped Brother Luckson would get to the door quickly and attend to the strange visitor but a few moments passed and it was still quiet I suspected he was having the similar battle I was having. Finally he reached for the door and opened four bespoke visitor. He quietly spoke with the visitor and came back to call me so that we could attend to his need. I knew the man had something serious to discuss with us.

The man came in. A quiet and humble man without shoes on his feet. “I’m a brother in law to Festone Banda ( the brother who got saved and fellowships with us). I have a problem and I have come asking for you to pray with me.

I wondered to myself as to what the problem might be. I then decided to call Brother Festone to find out if there was any problem. Bro Festone in response explained that he was not aware of his brother in law’s visit and did not know of any serious problems the man could have. I realized that there was clearly no problem.

The man explained that he came over because he wanted to give his life to God. He said that he wanted to change his ways. He also narrated how he has been troubled by nightmares.

After a background check we realized that this man has been inspired by the life of Brother Festone and has seen that the Lord has done a great work in him and hence a desire in him to have the same in his life.

We took the man to our little church shelter and expounded scriptures to him . We pointed out why it was important for human beings to have Christ in their lives. We told him that a decision to follow Christ was a matter of life and death and that he needed to count the cost before making this crucial choice. We emphasized on the need for him to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. He accepted everything we told him from the scripture and agreed that he was ready to enter the water. He has accepted the Lord Jesus as his savior. On Sunday he will be going in the water. We have told him to attend our Bible study tomorrow and the prayer meeting on Friday.

After the man left a thought came to me, reminding me that every time we have this rival-like prayers, The Lord usually sends a sheep in need of shelter from somewhere. Then immediately, as if reading my mind, Brother Luckson mentioned the same thing; “Brother”, he said, “Have you noticed that every time we have a powerful time of prayer, like the one we had last night, it means the Lord is preparing us for someone in need? This is what God did the time we met Sister Rachael”. I quickly responded and told him that that was exactly what was in my mind.

We praise the Lord for his mercies, and surely he speaks in ways we cannot comprehend.

Chatama village home outreach programme

Mission report update by Bro. Jesse M. Nzima

Yesterday ( Saturday April 8th) we had another outdoor family outreach meeting in the heart of Chatama village. A couple invited us to their home to come speak with their family and pray for them. They were concerned that all their children ( now grown up) have turned to bad ways. They also invited their neighbours to the meeting.

As usual we visit the people with our fellow brethren in the assembly. The experience has been very helpful for them spiritually.

Singing the song ‘Muzimu Woyera Ndi Moto’ ( The Holy Spirit is the fire that cleanses). When cleansed we can stomp the devil.

This time around I came to the meetings with our twin boys Sibusiso and Sibongiseni (both 10). I have been away from them for three months. I thought it important to have them in the mission field with me while they are on their school holiday so that they can learn the Lord’s ways better. The boys have been very excited and each experience is a learning phase them. This reminds me of what Joshua once said;

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭24‬:‭15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The local children here in the village can’t read besides them being in school. Seeing the boys speak and read English has motivated them to try and put in more effort to improve their literacy. We have also crafted a literacy program where we want to help the young and old alike to learn how to read and those who have been shy have really been motivated to come forward.

We made the most of the opportunity to expound the word of the Lord because we know that some people may not have another chance to hear God’s word.

The people were all attentive and quiet

After the sharing a number of people came forward to request for prayer and counseling. Some came to church today. The family has further requested that we visit them from time time.

Dear saints, kindly remember us in prayer. We are the boots on the ground ( foot soldiers) and you are the men in the air. Together we will reach out to our brothers and sisters who are hungering and waiting for the rescue in Jesus name. Shalom!

His Sheep hear His Voice (Testimony)

Last Sunday was quiet an event for me. We were having church service at the newly established church in Rufunsa, the village where we had a wonderful crusade in October last year. We travel there every weekend to establish the new believers in the faith. Much time is spent on teaching the Word.

Last Sunday we had an unexpected visitor. The local people of the area were all astonished to see the renowned tall and long bearded man attending church. He is known for being firm, a loner and the leader of what is known as Neighborhood Watch. Neighborhood Watch is a team of able-bodied young men who provide security services during night time. The tall stout elderly man is the leader of the security team. However, over the years he has fallen out with many people of his community. For a long time he hasn’t been in social circles, including church. This is the husband of the woman who got miraculously healed during the crusade.

The man listened to the sermon with wide attentive eyes. He seemed to be carefully scrutinizing every word he was hearing. As he continued listening, his face softened, a smile formed on his face and he was in tears, crying. It is Joshua, my son, who later  (after the service) told me, “That elderly man  was sitting next to me and he kept crying  during the preaching“. After the service he came to speak with me and said, “When vehicles were coming here, and I saw men bringing blocks for the church building, I wondered what was happening, but then something said to my heart, ‘There is your church, that’s where you belong!’

After the service one brother, new to the fellowship, approached me asking, “I have a problem at my home; I have received the truth of this Word and there is someone I told to come and hear. When I was in service last Saturday, I felt sad because the man needed to hear that sermon… Concerning my home, I told my wife to start coming for fellowship but she warned me that I had first removed her from Jehovah Witnesses to join me at the Pentecostal church and now she says she is not ready to come to the new church. But I want her here, I need my family to hear this Word.” My word to him: “Just be a good husband and father and continue with meekness sharing testimonies to her. A time will come when she will hear the Word and she will testify in church. If God speaks to a heart He will do the work in a person, if you try to convince and convert a person, they at any time can go back to their formal religious systems. Pray for her and I will be praying with you and we will continue visiting you“.

Just before I got into the car to start off, the young man who has been part of the team doing construction works, asked to see me. The young man has been forced to be on the construction site for two months now because of ongoing works. There was a time when he told me that since some works were on hold, they needed some time to come to Lusaka and maybe come back later when works resumed. I refused them leave but told them to stay on for some few more days. We sent them some money for food stuffs and that has kept them going. However, the delay has made him attend all the prayer meetings and with time he has accepted the truth and is so joyous about it. “Pastor, there is a dark spirit over my family. I need you to pray for my mother and my sister“, he told me. I asked him where his family is, and well, its quite very far from Lusaka. It is somewhere in Northern Zambia. I promised him that wherever they are, we will go there and pray with them. So, it looks like my next vacation trip is Northern Province. There are two families there that I have been longing to visit and this could be another call. God bless.
