THE INK, THE PAPER, AND YOUR STORY

[The following is an excerpt (Chapter 7) from the revised edition of “Answering the Question: Who created the Creator?”]

A strange dream.

Here I am on a special aircraft which moves at a speed of 30 km per second! I am with so many people but strangely, no one knows where we are going. But even more strangely, there appears to be no control room where you can find a pilot and a steering wheel of some sort. However, everyone seems to be at peace because despite all these odd facts, the aircraft seems to be extremely well-programmed! From the time we aboarded, it has never crashed despite moving through space which is littered with different kinds of aircraft and dangerous objects.

The technology of the aircraft system looks very sophisticated. Our aircraft is labeled PE and resides inside another aircraft called SS which moves at an unimaginable speed of 828,000 kilometers per hour! However, this is nothing compared to MWG, an extremely enormous aircraft which houses SS – it moves at 2,100,000 kilometers per hour!

I look around in the aircraft and notice everyone is very busy. Many have smart phones in their hands and headsets in their ears. I see young men deeply immersed in reading academic textbooks. I see men and women being conferred degrees at some ceremony. Other people are partying. I see others embracing and kissing. Then I see millions of children getting born on this aircraft. But many other people are dying too, and I see crowds gathering as they sob in tears for the deceased.  A strange dream it is; one time I feel excited at what I see, and at another time deep anguish grips my soul.

Somewhere on a wall I see a clock ticking. Time in this aircraft seems to be in fast forward motion. I can see babies…Oh, they have become toddlers and learning how to make their first step! A little mustache appears on the young men and swelled breasts on the young women.  They join the routine – wake up, eat, grow, work, make children, get old, die, and get buried!

In a distant corner somewhere, I see a cheering crowd. No, they are not cheering at me. Their eyes are fixed onto a podium. I see men beautifully clad in uniforms, giving a salute to one among them who has been sworn as their leader. Next, he makes promises of how he will make their lives better. The event looks so colorful, peaceful, and joyous…Oh no!…I am distracted by a terrible noise…

Dark smoke is rising from buildings. There is commotion on the streets. A crowd of people are chanting slogans with placards in their hands with words of demanding justice and freedom. Gunshots are fired. Corpses of men and women, boys and girls are lying on the streets. Then I hear a weary voice of an old man asking: “People, where are we going, and what’s the purpose of this journey?…Just how did we get here?”

“Get on with life, old man!” a teen retorted. “You’ll get mad if you start asking such questions. This super plane we are on simply exists and the only reality is, ‘We are here!’”

No, it’s not a dream.

We are here on planet Earth. Yes, it moves around the sun at a speed of 30km/s! The Earth is in the Solar System which in turn also moves at a speed of 828,000 km/h. But this speed is nothing compared to the speed of the Milky Way Galaxy which houses our Solar System – 2,100,000 km/h! These are not a figment of someone’s imagination. They are scientific facts. And if facts then it is most important to answer the old man’s question!

On the pages of time…

We surely are on a journey through time. In this journey we have found ourselves equipped with the ink of blood and pen of life and are to write a story on the pages of time. This moment you are reading these words, think about how far you have come in life. How old are you? What story have you been writing this far? What’s been the theme of your story? How many pages do you think are remaining before your covers close? If today your covers close, what will the owner of the ink and pages say about your story – “a waste”, “meaningless”, or “well done, my good and faithful servant”?

We are on a journey…we have found ourselves equipped with the ink of blood and pen of life and are to write a story on the pages of time.

One thing is certain, one day you will put a final stroke on your last page, the covers will close and you will be shelved away from the land of the living. But…“the books were opened”… the eyes of Saint John saw the vision: “and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.”[1]

Surely a day of reckoning is coming when you will have to account for how you used the ‘ink’ of life and ‘pages’ of your earthly days. “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” prayed the Psalmist.[2] The ink of blood and pages of time are not our resources and it isn’t just a wise thing to get started with a life story for which we don’t know the purpose or destination. Prudence requires that we ask ourselves, Why am I here? What story am I supposed to write?

It is important to note that answers to these questions can only come from the creator. “But how possible is this?” someone may wonder. This question even becomes more important at this time when the world of religion is full of bogus testimonies of the supernatural. However, falsehood will never diminish the existence of truth. There are many people who have truly experienced hearing the voice of God in their lives, and the experience never leaves a person the same. I make this statement with confidence as a witness who has experienced the manifestation of God’s power. Of course there are many people who have wondered why if God exists He never has spoken to them or everyone else. Well, it’s all really a matter of a person’s attitude. C.S. Lewis beautifully illustrated it this way:

If you are a geologist studying rocks, you have to go and find the rocks. They will not come to you, and if you go to them they cannot run away. The initiative lies all on your side. They cannot help or hinder. But suppose you are a Zoologist and want to take photos of wild animals in their native haunts. That is a bit different from studying rocks. The wild animals will not come to you: but they can run away from you…Now a stage higher; suppose you want to get to know a human person. If he is determined not to let you, you will not get to know him. You have to win his confidence. In this case the initiative is equally divided…When you come to knowing God, the initiative lies on His side. If He does not show Himself, nothing you can do will enable you to find Him. And, in fact, He shows much more of Himself to some people than to others – not because He has favourites, but because it is impossible for Him to show Himself to a man whose whole mind and character are in the wrong directions (p.164).[3]

These are important wise words. Finding God, or understanding his ways, is much a matter of attitude. God is not inert matter which you can study, verify and validate using man-made methods. It is here that many wise people of the world often exhibit foolishness and it is no wonder that God would reveal himself many times to simple minds: For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.[4]

Finding God, or understanding his ways, is much a matter of attitude. God is not inert matter which you can study, verify and validate using man-made methods.

Surely God does reveal himself to those who are sincere and humble enough. It is at this point that talk about the supernatural becomes a matter of personal experience which cannot be duplicated or imitated. Without a personal experience of God, one is only left with speculation about the divine. But when one tastes and sees His goodness, a new life of trusting (having faith) in God begins – “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.”[5]

Having tasted  the reality and power of God, in this life I have chosen not to write my own book but His – the Book of Life, which is the Word of God! As the Scripture says, “Ye are [an] epistle… known and read of all men.”[6] If I write my own story one day it shall be called ‘his story’ and it shall spell history. But like Paul of old I want to say “It is no longer I living but Christ liveth in me.” Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, and His story is alive to all those with ears to hear and eyes to see. Amen.

Butuan Meetings

Day 1 of Butuan Convention – April 13, 2017

It was wonderful to see believers from different places gather for worship. There are some believers I have met before when I was here last time, others I have come to know them through social media and I was glad to now meet them in person. But2.jpgThe believers here are so welcome. The family of sister Sarah has been so caring, making me feel at home. All around me are white-skinned people. I guess am adding a little colour to their environment. Well, what I see around me are not Filipinos but brothers and sisters united by that precious blood of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. No wonder there is love, peace and joy. They shall come from the East and West and sit down at the feet of the Lord, one song says. And the good old book says, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!“ (Psalm 133:1).

In the first message I introduced a series that I would be speaking on during the meetings titled “WHAT TIME IS IT?” We went back to the beginning of Time when God created the immense Universe out of which came  galaxies and planets and all the stupendous works that Science has tried to reach and elaborate on. The sharing was later narrowed down to the tiny speck of dust called “Earth” on which we human beings live.Day1ButuanConvention.jpg If there is God – why did He create us? Why did He set the fundamental laws of the Universe in such precise order? Was it for us just to wake up, eat, work, grow old and die? Surely not. He had a purpose! And science tells us that our galaxies are in motion. The Earth is also in motion around the Sun. Yes, We are on a great big ‘Bus’ called Earth which is moving through the road of Time. The question is: What are you doing on this bus? What is your destination?  Until a man wakes up to the revelation of Purpose, he or she hasn’t yet started living. One must be Born Again and see (perceive, understand, comprehend) God’s work!

Day1ButuanConv2.jpg

newredDay 2 of Butuan Convention – April 14, 2017

Before travelling on this mission, together with believers of my local fellowship in Zambia, we set two days to abstain from food to seek the Lord for His guidance. It was my desire that the Lord would one way or the other speak  like He had done during an earlier mission to India (November, 2016). Well nothing happened. I decided to have another two days of prayer and fasting. This time around our weather in Zambia became so hot. I became very hungry and weak until the condition triggered a terrible migraine headache. I wasn’t discouraged. It was on the morning of 14th April finally when I experienced what I know to have been a spiritual dream.

A dream

It was around 3 AM when I was awaked by an evil presence in the bedroom. I started praying, thanking God for the blood of Jesus Christ through which we have our salvation and protection. The evil presence left, and I felt peace. I decided to play a sermon by brother Branham – Is this the Sign of the End Sirs? I started listening to it until I fell asleep. Later around 05:00 AM a dream came:

I was on my way to a building where there was a gathering. The gathering was situated on the upper floor of the building. I was about to get into the elevator when I saw the wife of the bishop of the Pentecostal church I used to go to also heading to the venue of the gathering.

Upon arrival into the building I found a large crowd of people seated. Someone was preaching. He preached so hard that it seemed to make people in the audience uneasy. He wasn’t preaching in the usual style of standing in the pulpit. He walked into the audience as he spoke to the people. His appearance and voice was so austere. Then I saw two Catholic persists clad in their white priestly garments. They were walking to leave the hall when I realised the man preaching was brother William Branham. He looked at the two men and pointing at them said: “You shall not stand in the presence of God with filthy man-made garments.” I was awestruck with his fearless indictment on the two men. The men first stood still to hear what brother Branham spoke. As soon as he finished speaking they continued walking. Even so, strangely, people in the audience seemed not concerned about the stern message of the prophet. The dream ended and I immediately woke up to hearing these words from the sermon which had been playing: “…And, friends, don’t look to me. I’m your brother. Don’t pay no attention to me, because I’m just a mortal. I have to die like everybody else. Don’t you listen to me; but listen to what I’ve said. What I said is the Message. Don’t pay any attention to the messenger; watch the Message. Keep your eyes, not on the messenger, but on the Message. What It said, that’s the thing to look to… And I’ve got a word, THUS SAITH THE LORD, to Brother Shakarian, too. Uh-huh. I don’t know what he’ll do about it, but I’ve got the word to tell him. I don’t know what he’ll do. It’s up to him. Did you notice the last Voice? It’s supposed not to be an organization, but they declared their creed. An organization, then I’ll drop away. I’m out of such.”

These words took me in deep thought. The bishop’s wife unmistakably pointed to the denominational  church systems which missed God’s work in this day. Denominations, especially Pentecostals, desired to be entertained by man-made ministries rather than what God had sent. Next I thought about brother Jackson’s dream which brother Branham had gone at length to narrate in the sermon IS THIS THE SIGN OF THE END SIRS? I remembered that in that dream the people had been told to fix their eyes on the rock. But when Brother Branham left, people became frantic as they started asking “Where did Bro Branham go?” People went in different directions and FEW remained to look at what the prophet had said. It was refreshing for me to think about those words of admonishment when I woke up – “ What I said is the Message. Don’t pay any attention to the messenger; watch the Message. Keep your eyes, not on the messenger, but on the Message. What It said, that’s the thing to look to…” MessageNotMessenger.jpgHave Endtime Message believers given heed to this warning or have they idolized the Messenger? What is the Message that the prophet emphasised we need to look at instead of looking at the messenger? It is important to note that brother Branham preached so many sermons – over 1,100! – however, he only preached ONE MESSAGE, and that message was “BACK TO THE WORD!”

The sermon on the second day of the convention

That morning I asked believers what the signs of the last days are. Is it just about “nations rising against other nations” or hearing “wars and rumours of wars”? Everyone seems to know about such signs! Pick a dead drunk person and he will be able to quote those words of Scripture to you. Denominational movements preach about such signs. However, what we see in the Bible is that before a significant prophetic event occurs God gives SPECIFIC INSRUCTIONS TO HIS ELECT. That’s what happened before Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed; Abraham was told about what would happen. Before the flood came, Noah was given specific instructions on how to build the boat which would save him and his family. Similarly at the time of the First Advent of Christ, there were a select few who knew about the imminent appearing of the Messiah. There was Zachariah and Elizabeth. Concerning this couple the Scripture says “they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless” (Luke 1:6). There was Anna the prophetess who “departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day” (Luke 2:37). Then there was Simeon, “the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel” (Luke 2:25). To this man was revealed that “he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ” (v.26).Looking at these precedents it is very clear that before the appearing of Christ in the Second Advent there should be definite signs that will make the Elect aware of something about to happen. No, these won’t be generic signs of “wars and rumours of wars” but specific spiritual encounters that will begin to signal something to God’s Elect. One of the most important signs which has already occurred was the appearance of the Forerunner in this Age. And now, if there was a ministry to prepare people in the First Advent there shall definitely be a ministry to forerun the Second Advent.

Strangely what happened in the ministry of the forerunner for First Advent of Christ, John the Baptist, is repeating itself today. They thought John was the Christ, and today some people think Branham was Christ! For many, for a preaching to be right it has to be  flavoured with “Brother Branham said”. Once in Namibia I had preached at a large gathering and it seemed everyone was happy and excited until one person, a Congolese, approached me. Our conversation was dramatic:

“I am disappointed with you brother” he said to me.

“What is it?” I asked.

“You only where talking about the Scriptures and never said ‘Brother Branham said this and that’” He pointed out.

“Oh, but what I preached is what brother Branham preached!” I answered, not wanting to go into futile arguments.

“No.You are supposed to say, ‘Brother Branham said’ inorder to show that you acknowledge him’”

“What is ‘1+1’ sir?” I asked him.

“2!” came the resounding answer.

“You are wrong because you haven’t said, ‘Professor Right said it is two’ ” I dismissed his answer.

Imagine a son who has been taught that “1+1 =2”  and when another person asks him what is “1+2” all he says is “I only say what daddy says, and daddy has never said anything about 1+2”. Surely no daddy would be with such. Such a child has not ‘learned‘ but only been ‘tamed‘. It should be simple to see that if the desciples of Christ were quotists, they would never have produced Acts 2:38 out of Matthew 28:19!  PrayingForChildMany tried to identify with the ministry of John but with lives that were not manifesting the fruit of receiving the Word, and the same has happened today. Many have only got new exciting knowledge about the Original Sin, about Church Ages, about the Seven Seals but yet live lives which are void of Christ. Lives which bring reproach upon the cause of Christ. Lives which do not bear the fruits of repentance. It is said that one should not jump higher than he lives. Many take pride in identifying themselves with the prophet but yet cannot exhibit the simple life of humility and consecration that he lived. John declared to the Abrahamites: “O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham” (Luke 3:7-8).

Singapore and Philippines visit – April

newredMay we always be conscious of the presence of Him who gives us breath. He “stretcheth the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing” (Job 26:7). His works are too marvelous to comprehend! Blessed are the eyes which doth see them. Even so, the great incomprehensible Almighty Spirit chose to manifest Himself in human flesh – not as another junior God but as the same ONE invisible God taking on the ‘mask’ of human flesh (1 Tim.3:16) –  “God was manifest  in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory” (John 3:16).

We believe in Him through the power of God – not through a creed, tradition or imagination of the mind. As in the words of Peter, “we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty” (2 Peter 1:16-17).

I am trusting God for His grace during the scheduled meetings in Singapore, and in Butuan and Manila in the Philippines this April. We earnestly covet your prayers. Shalom.

Watchman, What of the Night?

Yesterday, 28th June, 2016, the BBC (and many other international media) carried a strange headline – “Pope Francis says Church should apologise to Gays”. [1] Pope.pngThe Pope said that the church had no right to judge people. Oh, what cunning deception and a misconstruing of Scripture (Mat.7:1). Hath not the “Holy Father” read that “in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour” (Lev.19:15)? And, what  does the “Holy Father” make of John the Baptist’s words to those religious scholars of his day when he called them vipers, awaiting God’s wrath? – “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?” (Mat.3:7).[2]

In ancient times, a city would have a watchtower – a raised tall structure in which a trained man, with good eye-sight, would observe what was happening outside the city walls so that in the event of observing troops or tradesmen coming, or other important incidents, he would signal to the people inside the walls telling them what to do.Watchtower If it was an enemy advancing, he had to blow a specific sound of a trumpet to prepare soldiers for war. Likewise, if it was traders coming, people would hear the required sound of the trumpet and know that it was business time. Trouble is having a drunken man as a watchman; he will blow an “uncertain sound”, making people get baskets and other business vessels when they are supposed to be getting their swords for war –“For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?” (1 Cor.14:8).

Dear children of God, let us beware of modern watchmen who tell people to prosper and get enthused into the cares of this world when they are supposed to be in tears, repenting of their sins. Many modern churches have become “den of thieves” (Mat.21:13); they have become “habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird” (Rev.18:2). Morality in the world is at its lowest ebb. All basic forms of decency are quickly disappearing among womenfolk; the past two weeks a city in Europe had a nude restaurant opened where people can go in and eat whilst naked.[3] Issues of transgender and homosexuality have now become hot issues that societies have to contend with. The Old Book tells us that there was an ancient city which was destroyed by God for this same corruption, idiocy, and insanity. Surely, the handwriting is on the wall,  warning us of the impending judgement coming upon this world. For “the heavens and the earth, which are now”, wrote Apostle Peter, “by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men” (2 Pet. 3:7).

It looked dark and gloomy. From a distance, in a large field and having a wide view of the sky and earth, I could see something like fiery coals of fire brewing up. A disastrous event was imminent. The sight kept getting fiery as the fires began to burst and fly around. I felt terrified but just then the scene changed and I was in what looked like a banking hall where people were busy making financial transactions. Strangely, everything was alright and it was business as usual. But I was in panic telling people in haste about what I saw. But I looked stupid as everyone casually asked me, with a ‘not-interested’ facial gesture: “Where did you see that?” I got relieved when I saw two Believers  enter this business building. I asked them if they had seen what I saw.  Strangely, they were also not interested in what I was explaining. One of the believers went to a counter and deposited some money. He started to speak some jokes and was laughing. I then exclaimed to the people; “This is something that the government  can’t do anything about!” I woke up thinking about these words of Scripture:

“He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night? The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will inquire, inquire ye: return, come” (Isa.21:11-12).
